  • Can I Use a 4 Way Vehicle Connector with 7 Way Adapter and the Curt Echo Brake Controller?
It sounds like you may already have a 4 way connector on your vehicle, which is half of the battle. In order to operate the Curt Echo Mobile Wireless Brake Controller # C51180 you will need an almost fully functional 7 way connector; using something like the Hopkins # 37185 adapter from the answer you were looking at would work, but it doesn't come with all of the wiring you'll need so I don't recommend using that and you will need to run a power wire to your battery (not included). Instead,...

  • Can Tekonsha Wireless Brake Controller Install with 4-Way to 7-Way Adapter
You can use a 4-way to 7-way adapter like the part # 37185 to install a Prodigy RF part # TK94FR but you have to connect the black wire of the # 37185 up to the positive post of the vehicle battery through a circuit breaker like part # 9510. Once you do that the RF will be active and ready to go. No other wires would be needed to be ran.

  • Wiring and Brake Controller Needed for 1996 Ford F-150 with 4-Way Flat
Hey John, thanks for reaching out! If the 4-Way on your 1996 Ford F-150 is from the factory then the only wire splicing you'll need to do is with the Adapter # 37185, which plugs into your 4-Way and then you'll connect the rest of the wires to the wire bundle at the back of your truck. Once that's connected all you'll do is plug in a pigtail adapter and your brake controller under the driver's side dash of your truck! If you don't already have the brake controller, then I recommend the...

  • 4-Way and 7-Way Recommendation for 2015 Toyota Sienna LE
Hey Brad, the Tekonsha 4-way kit part # 118648 is the correct fit and best option for your 2015 Toyota Sienna LE. Then for a 7-way adapter the part # C57672 that you referenced would be exactly what you'd want as well. Does the trailer have brakes? I noticed you also referenced the # 37185 7-way adapter which is also a really great option just like the Curt but it does look like it costs more so it wouldn't be what I would go with if I were you.

  • 7-Way Upgrade Kit to Install Curt Echo Brake Controller and Provide 12V Power for Trailer Battery
If you have a 4-pole wiring setup now and you want to install a wireless trailer brake controller you will use an adapter like Curt # C57672 or Hopkins # 37185. Both install by plugging in to your 4-pole and by making additional wiring connections using the pigtail leads. If you want to use a wireless smartphone-controlled brake controller like the Curt Echo # C51180 you will not need to run a blue brake output wire. All you'll need to do is provide a 12V power connection to the adapter....

  • Troubleshooting Brakes Staying on When Connected to 7-Way on 2012 Nissan Pathfinder
Thank you for all of the details. I'm glad to hear that all of your lighting functions are working properly. That takes quite a bit of troubleshooting out of the equation. The red wire that was referenced looks to carry the reverse light function. If your trailer has reverse lights then you definitely want to make that connection. For the answer page you are referencing the customer was looking to use the Adapter # 37185 along with the T-One # 118266 which is the equivalent of the Curt...

  • Parts Needed to Install 7-Way on 2022 GMC Savana without Tow Package
Hey Joseph, since your 2022 GMC Van doesn't have the 7-way wiring that would indicate it doesn't have the factory tow package so you'd need to go a different route to install a 7-way. You'd need to first start with the 4-way kit part # 55540 that is a confirmed fit for your Van and then convert it to a 7-way with the part # 37185 if the trailer you plan to tow does not have brakes. If you have trailer brakes you need to operate you'd instead want the # ETBC7 with a brake controller like...

  • Parts Needed To Install a 7-Way and Trailer Brake Controller On a 1996 Ford F-350 With Factory 4-Way
Since you already have a factory 4-way flat on your 1996 Ford F-350 you will need the Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole # 37185. This will plug into your factory 4-way and the rest of the wiring will have to be spliced into your factory wiring as I do not see anyone makes wiring for your factory connectors. The Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter # 3035-P will allow you to plug into the 6 pin connector you found under the dash. Then you can connect the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195.

  • Brake Controller Installation in 2019 Ford Ranger
We have not yet (as of April 2019) had a chance to install any wired trailer brake controllers on a 2019 Ford Ranger so for guidance I checked with my most trusted brake controller expert at Tekonsha. Based on what I could learn about the truck if the Ranger has a factory-installed 7-way it should have a standard brake controller connection port above and to the left of your left knee when seated; this will be near the kick panel. You will want to look for a connector that matches the...

  • Adding 7-Way To 2023 Ford Escape To Use With Curt Echo Wireless Brake Controller
Hey Paul, thanks for reaching out. You are on the right track here, because the # 37185 adapter can be used for this application, but you will need to run 12 gauge wire from the black wire on the adapter to the battery on your Escape with a 40 amp circuit breaker inline. The Curt Echo wireless controller does need 12v power to operate, and the current 4-flat does not have a 12v pin. There is power going to a converter somewhere, but we need a 12v pin on the 7-way, so a wire must be run...

For your 2002 Ford E250 you can use the # 3035-P to plug directly in to the factory brake controller plug. You will also need item # 37185 to complete your wiring. To install a brake controller in your 2008 Ford F-150 you would be able to use the brake controller port under the dash and you will need to complete the wiring at the rear of your vehicle to the 7-way at the rear of the truck. The auxiliary 12-volt wire that runs from the 7-way connection to 7-way trailer plug will supply 12-volt power from the vehicle to the trailer. The 12 -volt power will allow interior or exterior lights to run that are not wired in to the trailer's tail and clearance lights. • Difference Between 4-Pole to 7-way Wiring Adapters 47180 and 37185
Hopkins part # HM47180 is a 4-pole-to-7-way wiring adapter that is equivalent to the similar # 37185. The only real functional difference between them is that on part # 37185 the 4-pole trailer connector is located to the side of the 7-way, rather than under it as with # HM47180. Both adapters plug in at an existing 4-pole vehicle connector and re-format those lighting signals to the 7-way configuration. • Parts Needed For Tekonsha Prodigy P2/P3 Trailer Brake Controller on 2001 Ram 1500 No Tow Package
I do see where you got the Receiver # 75101 from us but I do not see exactly what Hopkins 7-way you got for your 2001 Dodge Ram 1500. I'm going to assume you got the 7-Way # 37185 as it is one of the most commonly used. To install the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885 or P3 # 90195(which would be my preference) you would also need the Wiring Kit # 5506 which contains wiring for both the charge line and brake controller along with circuit breakers to protect from shorts or surges. I do have ways to help with trailer sway and vehicle sag on your 2013 Volkswagen Tiguan but none of the trailer hitch receivers they have for your vehicle are compatible with a weight distribution system. Load leveling is what Volkswagen calls what we refer to as weight distribution. • Parts Needed to Bypass TIPM of 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 for Trailer Wiring
Your 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 is a generation of Dodge truck that uses a very bizzare trailer wiring setup. It has a TIPM which manages the trailer wiring. If it shorts out you can only reset it so many times (at a crazy price) until you have to just buy a new one. It's a God-awful setup if you ask me, but we do have a solution that allows you to bypass that if you are okay with a little bit of wiring. The best way around the TIPM is to bypass it all together with the trailer wiring. For that...
